Week 7: Mock Interview: The Full N-400 Run-Through
This week's N-400 warmup is a full mock interview. Practice out loud with a partner or in front of a mirror. The officer will greet you, put you under oath, and go through your N-400 in order.

- Have a partner call your name from another room — walk in, greet the 'officer', and sit only when invited.
- Raise your right hand and take the oath: 'I do'.
- Hand over Green Card + ID + passports as one packet.
- Answer the first 10 N-400 questions out loud (name, address, DOB, phone, marital status, employer).
- Answer 3 civics questions out loud, then read 1 sentence and write 1 sentence the partner dictates.

N-400 Interview Prep
This week is your full mock interview. In class we run it just like USCIS: you raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth, the officer walks through your N-400 page by page, you take the English reading and writing tests, then the civics test (12 of 20 correct to pass on the 128-question test). We use the sample script from the N-400 Hub. The goal is that on interview day, nothing feels new.
N-400 checklist for this week
- Bring your full N-400 packet, exactly as you submitted it
- Bring your Green Card, all passports, and your appointment notice
- Answer every mock question in one clear sentence — resist the urge to over-explain
- If you catch a mistake in your N-400, tell the officer right away — small corrections are normal

Read-aloud passage
At the interview, the officer will ask you to raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth. Then the officer will go through your N-400 answers with you. Speak calmly and clearly. If you don't know an answer, it is okay to say so. Be honest — this is the most important part of the interview.
